A trans-Tasman sailing championship, and a once in a lifetime opportunity for our team.

The achievement

In April 2026, the Whangārei Girls' High School team placed third in the Girls' Team Division at the New Zealand Secondary Schools Team Sailing Nationals, held at Parua Bay in Whangārei.

That result qualified them for the Interdominion Championships in Auckland this October, where New Zealand's top three girls' teams race Australia's top three. For a Northland school team, this is an extraordinary achievement, earned through real commitment, a demanding training schedule, and a lot of hard work.

Getting to Auckland

The focus now is getting our full team of sailors to Auckland to compete on the international stage.

Our fundraising target to get the whole team to Auckland.

Covers coaching, travel, van hire, accommodation, boat support, entry fees, and equipment. The girls are training hard and fundraising hard, and they need your help to make it.
